Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky has commissioned a statue of Chris to be placed somewhere in Seattle. The statue will be created by Wayne Toth, who created the state of Johnny Ramone that stands at is grave in LA. Vicky is now working with Seattle to find a permanent place for the statue. There is a restaurant in Seattle where Chris used to work called Ray’s Boathouse. I’m not (necessarily) suggesting the statue go there, but it is a place that anyone can go to, enjoy the view of Shilshole Bay, Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains (if the sun is out!), watch all the boats going by, and not only enjoy great food and beverages, but know that you are eating in a place where Chris worked as sous-chef. I spent many a Friday afternoon/evening at Rays’ in the mid to late 80’s, and now the next time I am in Seattle and head to Ray’s , I will be thinking not just of the history of the restaurant and the previous good times had, but of Chris Cornell as well.
