OK, so A Mighty Wind was released in 2003. Along with Spinal Tap and Best In Show, it’s referred to as a Mockumentary. Even if you’re not into Folk music, it is still a brilliant film, and showcases the deep talent of the stars. All the songs in the film were written by the performers, or by CJ Vanston, songwriting collaborator of Christopher Guest. Well, except one. The Folksmen, made up of characters played by Harry Shearer, Christopher Guest, and Michael McKean, cover Start Me Up by The Rolling Stones. I’ve played a small bit on the air before, but the whole thing really is a fitting folksy version of the song. You deserve to hear the entire song. And see the movie, if you haven’t!
