Jon Anderson (Yes), Geddy Lee (Rush), Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Joseph Williams (Toto). All great singers that have that high range, and I know there are some I’ve forgotten. But there is one I recently remembered: Roy Orbison! Yep, Roy could really hit the high notes, and the last album he recorded before passing away in December of 1988, Mystery Girl, holds some incredible examples of his vocal talent, including She’s A Mystery To Me. Written by Bono and The Edge, Roy gives it his own take. At 3:37, he really lets go on the high note…..give me shivers! Give it a listen….Roy had one of those voices that can be haunting and pure at the same time, and this song is a perfect example. Oh, and what does the U2 version sound like? It’s phenomenal as well!
