Not long ago I found myself at the corner of Overland and 5 Mile. I’m actually there a lot, but during this particular trip, The Who’s Pinball Wizard just happened to come on the car radio, and in turn out of the speakers! Yes, I was listening to The Eagle! It triggered a memory from either late 1980 or early ’81 (those years are a little fuzzy), driving in from Caldwell to The Mann 4Plex Theaters, tucked in the corner of the 5 Mile Plaza, to see the midnight showing of The Who’s Tommy. To say the area has changed is an understatement. It also reminds me that I heard the Elton John version of Pinball Wizard long before The Who’s version. So, I went home and pulled up the video of Pinball Wizard from the movie to complete the circle, and you can enjoy below. It really makes me want to see the whole movie again!
