Chester Bennington from Linkin Park

Throughout my radio career I’ve met Linkin Park probably more than any other band.  Backstage meet & greets, radio interviews…by the 3rd time I started to give away their autographs.  I mean, how many Linkin Park autographs do I need?  Some people never get to meet bands so I wanted to share the joy I got out of it.  The bands members are all the same age as me (Chester was 1 year older) so I started to feel awkward backstage.  Like those weird dudes in their 50’s that are always trying to get celebrity autographs outside hotels and airports of stars in their 20’s.

The band was always super nice to me, I’d say one of the top 5 nicest bands I’ve ever met – every time.

I don’t think anything is different in rock music in 2017, I don’t think there is an epidemic I just think this is life.  Joplin, Hendrix & Jim Morrison?  Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington are our generations version of this. The players are different but the story is the same.

Here’s the 1st time I ever met Chester.  My 1st radio job  They had been touring all year and we’re exhausted.  I’m in the bottom right corner.  Chester is in the black hat on the right.  Bonus trivia, my ex-girlfriend is to my right.  Project Revolution tour in what was called the First Union Center in Pennsylvania. February 7th, 2002.  – Forrest
